The 2014 Day of Silence was Apthe 2013 Day of Silence was April Day was April 20 in 2011 it was on April 15. The Day of Silence has been held each year in April since 1996. We as a planning team value and celebrate the intersections of every single person who engages meaningfully in the community of Belper. Students take a day-long vow of silence to symbolically represent the silencing of LGBT students and their supporters. Pride in Belper is developed under four pillars inclusivity, sustainability, accessibility and diversity. The date of October 11 was chosen because it was the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights.
